About this course

This is the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers ("CPR"). This course is specifically designed for medical professionals and students in healthcare programs.

Important: If you are not a healthcare provider, please call our office at (732) 579-8690 for the appropriate general public course solution.

This program uses a Blended Learning format:

Part I (Online): Complete the AHA HeartCode BLS online course at your own pace.
Parts II & III (In-Person): Attend a hands-on skills practice and testing session with an instructor.

Course Content/Outcomes

2020 AHA Guidelines science and education for CPR and ECC.
High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
The AHA Chain of Survival for prehospital and in-facility tracks.
Early use of an AED and effective ventilation using barrier devices.
Team dynamics and performance in multi-rescuer resuscitation.
Relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (choking) for all ages.

Audience

Target Audience: All healthcare providers requiring BLS for their scope of practice. This includes MDs, RNs, NPs, PAs, and Paramedics. Additionally, this course is accepted for entry into Nursing and Medical schools as skills are verified in person by an AHA Instructor.

Completion Requirements

To receive your 2-year American Heart Association (AHA) eCard, you must:

Complete the Online HeartCode BLS (Part I) BEFORE your skills session*.
Present your printed Online Completion Certificate upon arrival.
Successfully complete the in-person hands-on Skills Practice (Part II).
Pass the in-person Skills Check (Part III) with a BLS instructor.
Complete the post-course evaluation.

Q: What is the format of this BLS course?
A: This is a blended learning course. You must complete the online Part I at your own pace before attending the in-person skills session (Parts II & III).

Q: When will I receive my online access link?
A: Immediately after registration, you will receive a link in your account to complete the online portion.

Q: What happens if I forget my certificate?
A: Per AHA guidelines, we are not permitted to admit you to the skills session without your Online Course Completion Certificate.

Q: Is this course for initial certification or renewal?
A: This course is valid for both initial certification and renewal, as all students complete the same comprehensive online and skills testing requirements.

Q: How long is my certification valid?
A: Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA BLS Provider eCard valid for two years.
