About:
Always Think Comfort is offering an in-house program designed for nurses and social workers of all levels. This 7-hour program will guide you through the many topics related to issues with the Long-Term Care Facilities, Post-Acute Care Facilities and Skilled Nursing Facilities. This interactive full day program was designed for the nurse working in the long-term care facility who is seeking a more comprehensive understanding of how to manage pain for both the sub-acute and long-term care patient. Once the course ends, each participant will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Objectives:
At the end of this presentation, the learner will be able to:
- Review the current research on pain in the geriatric patient.
- Discuss the CMS regulations for pain management in long-term care facilities.
- Describe the pain pathway and how various medications impact the pain pathway.
- Identify various assessment tools that can be used with various patients.
- Develop an appropriate pharmacologic treatment plan based on medical history, age, and diagnosis.
- List three non-pharmacologic approaches to pain that can be used in the long-term care setting.
- Identify cultural norms related to pain management.
Audience: RNs, NPs, PAs, interns, students, and more.

Faculty: Dr. Fran Hoh Ph.D. APN ACHPN APPMN has been an Advanced Practice Nurse for over three decades. She holds certifications as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Hospice and Palliative care as well as in pain management. She is the founder and owner of Always Think Comfort, which provides pain and palliative care consultations to long-term care facilities in NJ. She published a book, Pain Medications and You which is a guide for patients to manage pain.
