Q: I have not taken the latest edition of the provider course, but I did pass with a 90% (or more). Will I need to re-test?
A: Firstly, you will need to either take the latest edition (or audit the newest edition), AND ENA requires you to re-test to the course's latest version. (See "About Testing" for more information.)
Q: It has been longer than 120 days since my provider course. Will I need to re-test?
A: ENA requires you to re-test both your practical and written exams. You must score 90% or greater on each exam. (See "About Testing" for more information.)
Q: What is the practical exam?
A: The practical exam is the nursing process (A–J mnemonic) you tested during your provider course. For ENPC, it is referred to as the PNP (Pediatric Nursing Process); for TNCC, it is referred to as the Trauma Nursing Process.
Q: How many attempts do I have to test?
A: You have two attempts to score 90% or greater on the written exam, and two attempts to achieve 90% or greater on the practical exam. (See "About Testing" for more information.)
Q: I have heard that the new version of the written exam is more challenging than it used to be. How difficult is the exam?
A: The new version of the written exam is significantly more challenging than prior versions of the course. You will need the latest version of the textbook to help with some areas of the exam. Most fail the exam without significant preparation. See "About Testing" for more details.
Q: How do I know if I have taken the latest version of the course?
A: Log in to your https://enau.ena.org account — in the transcript area, you can view your TNCC and ENPC cards, which state the edition. The latest edition of TNCC is the 9th Edition; the latest edition of ENPC is the 6th Edition. If you do not have the latest edition, we HIGHLY recommend you enroll in a provider course to meet this criteria, or audit the latest edition of the course.
Q: What happens if I do not attend the Zoom session for the instructor course?
A: You will be marked as a no-show; there are no refunds, transfers, or credits available as part of your tuition. However, for a separate fee, our office may be able to assist with transferring you to a different course date if space permits.
Q: I did not score 90% or greater on the provider test. Can I still attend the instructor course?
A: You can enroll in the instructor course; however, you must still score 90% or greater during your ENA Instructor Course Modules. See "About Testing" above. There are no refunds, transfers, or credits if you do not score 90% or greater on the written and practical exams.
Q: What if I do not score 90% on the written exam or practical exam?
A: You must wait 90 days before re-enrolling in another instructor course. ENA requires that you wait 90 days from your instructor course date to re-enroll and pay for a new instructor course.
Q: My employer wants to pay for my registration; how can my employer receive an invoice to pay for the course?
A: Contact our group and corporate sales team at groups@HCTAUSA.org. They can assist you in receiving an invoice for the course. Keep in mind that your employer can also pay via Visa/Mastercard/Discover on our website — credit card payments are the fastest method of registration, whereas when an employer offers to pay us directly, it can take several weeks for a check to be received by our office. Your access to the course will not be issued until full payment is received.
Q: I want to teach independently; how do I become an ENA Course Director?
A: The ENA Course Director rank is not easy to attain. You must be an established instructor who has taught many provider courses, is capable of teaching the entire course's content, and has undergone training on ENA's Course Management System. You must align with a course director to provide this training; in most cases, reaching the rank of course director takes longer than a year for those teaching multiple courses per year. You will need to contact ENA to begin this process and obtain a Course Director who can assist. Our organization is not able to assist in becoming a Course Director.
Q: I have additional questions about this course that are not on this list; whom can I contact?
A: Our ENA course faculty contact is Lee Taylor-Vaughan. After reviewing this page, please direct all questions to him at Lee@HCTAUSA.org (Lee works the night shift, so anticipate a slight delay in replying to emails). Please ask any questions BEFORE registration, as refunds are not available.
Q: You are holding ENPC and TNCC on the same day. Can I take both programs at the same time?
A: Yes, absolutely; however, check that you meet the requirements to attend each course. You will also want to ensure you are ready for the testing requirements (if needed), as the exams can be exceptionally challenging. Some feel that taking them separately is best, as the testing requirements can often be overwhelming.
Q: How do I log in to attend the Zoom portion of the course?
A: Although groups can attend, each participant will need to log in to Zoom separately. The link to the Zoom meeting is located in your account on our website. On the day of your course, log in to our website and click the Zoom link to access the course.
Q: I am attending with coworkers. Can we all log in from the same device?
A: No. Although groups are welcome to attend, each participant will need to be logged in to Zoom separately (this is how attendance and breakout rooms are managed).
